Project: To design a typeface out of non-traditional materials, based on an existing classical serif.
Solution: I created Butch, a beefy unicase serif, based off Filosofia, intended to appetise or repulse, depending on the viewer and the application. It serves up a single, tall x-height for letters that are usually separated into lower and upper cases. Its hodgepodge lighting and shadows give it a unique, handmade feel. Butch gives guts to an otherwise elegant typeface.
