UX Project: User Journey Map
AP1|FA22
Problem: UMSL students navigate a complex, multi-branch library database to look for needed research material. How can we redesign this interface to better serve the students and what specific changes does it need?
Solution: We asked an UMSL student to search for and check out Trevor Noah's book, Born a Crime and make a video recording of the process. After they finished this task, we interviewed them and received feedback on the process. With this research, I was able to create an empathy map and user journey map based on their experience.

Bassam's user profile
My group and I created post-it notes for each time we noticed the user "say, think, feel, or do" anything, resulting in the above empathy map. This information would later aid in creating an as-is scenario and user journey map.
My group joined empathy maps in Figma for one as-is scenario.
With the help of the as-is scenario map, I was able to make assessments of him and his experience.
I created a journey map of this experience to locate his pain points during the process.
With the user journey map and prior research of the library website, I was able to redesign the landing page for a less stressful search engine in Figma.
One of the problems with the site was an unclear checkout process, which I was able to make more clear and less convoluted i Figma.
